Julia loves walking along a beach and picking up a shell. Travel usually involves returning with visually interesting rocks. In fact when she moved recently to her new home in Oxfordshire, her huge rock collection and other potential subject matter had to accompany her. Over the years they have been wonderful models creating incredible landscapes that do not exist, but could. So often viewers believe Julia's is so varied. In fact she has a theme that carries throughout and that is the world of mystery based on solid drawing. The painting could be very figurative or almost abstract, yet the underlying principle is the same - the balancing of one shape to the other whether it be very figurative like a person of bulding or ambiguous like the detail of a shell, rock etc..
